January 2019 is the start of a new era for the Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce as we welcome Richard Blumenberg as our new Chairman of the Board.
Richard L. Blumenberg, AIA, is a second generation born and raised in Los Angeles.
In 1972, Blumenberg graduated from the University of California at Berkeley. He received his Master of Architecture degree and was given the Dean’s Award for Excellence from UCLA in 1975.
His career in architecture began by creating award winning senior citizen housing while serving in the Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) program. Experience was acquired in hotel and commercial projects while working at Maxwell Starkman AIA, and Associates. For sixteen years, he was a partner in Choate Associates and was the architect of over 100 projects ranging from residential remodels, new houses over 10,000 square feet, and commercial projects.
In 1997, Blumenberg established his own office as RLB Architecture. He has a diverse range of clients who appreciate his sense of design, attention to detail, and his direct and personal service.
Blumenberg is currently the consulting architect for the California Riviera Home Owners Association, Huntington Palisades Property Owners Association, Palisair Home Owners Association, Riviera Estates Home Owners Association, and the Pacific Palisades Civic League. He has also served on the Citizen Participatory Advisory Committee (CPAC) for the update of the Brentwood-Palisades Specific Plan.
His work has been published in Luxe, House Beautiful, California Homes, Los Angeles Home and Décor, and the Los Angeles Home Book. In addition, Blumenberg received the year 2000 Calibre Team Award Honorable Mention for the Schapira Residence given by the International Interior Design Association.
Blumenberg is very active in Pacific Palisades where and his family have resided for over 35 years. For 35 years he has been on the plan review committee of the Civic League and 5 years as its president. He has been a Board member of the Chamber for 5 years and was the architect of the remodeled Chamber office. As Chair of the Board of the Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce, Blumenberg looks forward to helping the Chamber transition into more of a business oriented organization.
